Richmond Wilson, 79, Dies After Harbor Gateway Hit-and-Run Crash on West Imperial Highway in South Los Angeles
Richmond Wilson, 79, died after a vehicle struck them while they crossed West Imperial Highway in the Harbor Gateway area late Friday night.
Los Angeles police and paramedics responded at approximately 11:10 p.m. to 726 West Imperial Highway, between Hoover Street and Vermont Avenue.
Authorities reported that an unidentified vehicle traveling at high speed struck Wilson before the driver left without stopping to provide assistance.
Emergency responders pronounced Wilson dead at the scene, and the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office attributed the death to traumatic injuries.
The medical examiner publicly identified Wilson on Monday, and the report appeared on November 3, 2026.
Police have not released a vehicle description, the driver remains unidentified, and the investigation continues.
